Ramadan food gide lines

💠 RAMAZAN Foods Guide lines

In view of the long hours of fasting, we should consume slow digesting foods including fiber containing-foods rather than Fast-digesting foods.
Slow digesting foods last up to 8 hours, while fast-digesting foods last for only 3 to 4 hours:
Slow digesting foods are foods that contain grains and seeds like barley, wheat, oats, millet, semolina, beans, lentils, whole meal flour, unpolished rice, etc. (called complex carbohydrates).
Fast-burning foods are foods that contain sugar, white flour, etc. (called refined carbohydrates).

• Fried foods are unhealthy and should be limited. They cause indigestion, heartburn, and weight problems.
AVOID
• Fried and fatty foods.
• Foods containing too much sugar.
• Over-eating especially at sehri.
• Too much tea at sehri. Tea makes you pass more urine taking with it valuable mineral salts that your body would need during the day.
EAT
• Complex carbohydrates at sehri so that the food lasts longer making you
less hungry.
• Haleem is an excellent source of protein and is a slow-burning food.
• Dates are excellent source of sugar, fiber, carbohydrates, potassium and
magnesium.
• Almonds are rich in protein and fiber with less fat.
• Bananas are a good source of potassium, magnesium and carbohydrates.

DRINK
• As much water or fruit juices as possible between iftar and bedtime so
that your body may adjust fluid levels in time.

🌹 CONSTIPATION
Constipation can cause piles (hemorrhoids), fissures (painful cracks in anal canal) and indigestion with a bloated feeling.
Causes : Too much refined foods, too little water and not enough fiber in the diet.

Remedy : Avoid excessive refined foods, increase water intake, and use bran in baking, brown flour when making roti. Soaked figs, plums, apple juice, khak-shir, chia seed juice and Sekanjebin are good options as well.

🌹 INDIGESTION AND WIND
Causes : Over-eating. Too much fried and fatty foods, spicy foods, and foods that produce wind e.g. eggs, cabbage, lentils, carbonated drinks like Cola also produce gas.
Remedy : Do not over-eat; drink fruit juices or better still drink water.
Avoid fried foods; add ajmor to wind-producing foods.

HEADACHE
Causes : Caffeine and tobacco-withdrawal, doing too much in one day, lack of sleep, hunger usually occur as the day goes by and worsens at the end of the day. Depends which part of the head pains, the cure would be different.

Aramaic Prayer to Our Father

The Prayer To Our Father
(translated into first century Aramaic)

Abwûn
“Oh Thou, from whom the breath of life comes,

d’bwaschmâja
who fills all realms of sound, light and vibration.

Nethkâdasch schmach
May Your light be experienced in my utmost holiest.

Têtê malkuthach.
Your Heavenly Domain approaches.

Nehwê tzevjânach aikâna d’bwaschmâja af b’arha.
Let Your will come true – in the universe (all that vibrates)
just as on earth (that is material and dense).

Hawvlân lachma d’sûnkanân jaomâna.
Give us wisdom (understanding, assistance) for our daily need,

Waschboklân chaubên wachtahên aikâna
daf chnân schwoken l’chaijabên.
detach the fetters of faults that bind us, (karma)
like we let go the guilt of others.

Wela tachlân l’nesjuna
Let us not be lost in superficial things (materialism, common temptations),

ela patzân min bischa.
but let us be freed from that what keeps us off from our true purpose.

Metol dilachie malkutha wahaila wateschbuchta l’ahlâm almîn.
From You comes the all-working will, the lively strength to act,
the song that beautifies all and renews itself from age to age.

Amên.
Sealed in trust, faith and truth.
(I confirm with my entire being)

In Silence and solitude – John Chuchman

cta2bpic

As uncomfortable

as our society seems to be

with silence,

I gain much

from it,

with it,

in it.

In silence,

I gain

a deeper consciousness of  myself.

I often find out what’s really going on

within me

and sometimes even find answers to questions

troubling me.

In solitude,

I gain

a deeper attunement to nature,

discovering an awe and wonder

at the beautiful gift

of creation.

Solitude affords me

a deeper relationship with the transcendent

(the numinous, the divine, the spiritual)

beyond the noisy man-made limits

of religious doctrine, dogma, rules, regulations, rites, and rituals.

Silence

increases my creativity,

providing me nuggets of wisdom

from nowhere,

which inspire and excite me.

In solitude

I find an increased sense of freedom,

not bound by noisy harangues.

I have found that

the correlation

between good ideas

and non-stop talkers

to be

less than zero.

It seems that

life’s stumbling blocks

can only be turned into

stepping stones

in

silence.

As a new day begins…

…each of us will face its challenges. There will be circumstances that develop, circumstances over which we may not have any control, circumstances that we simply cannot fix or that are bigger and stronger than we are. Some will surmount those situations and circumstances; others will be swept up by them which will it be for you?

There were two boats sailing in the bay. A stiff wind swept into the area blowing in the direction of the rocks and away from the harbor. The pilot of one of the boats was taken closer and closer to the rocks, its pilot having great difficulty controlling his course as the wind blew him closer and closer to disaster. Yet the pilot of the other boat adjusted his sails and set his course against the wind toward the safe harbor, for he knew that a good sailor can use the wind and sail against it. The minutes went by as one boat approached its end on the rocks and the other approached the safe harbor…
